Salvador Dalí

Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, 1st Marquis of Púbol (May 11, 1904 – January 23, 1989) was a Spanish Catalan surrealist painter born in Figueres.

Dalí was a skilled draftsman, best known for the striking and bizarre images in his surrealist work. His painterly skills are often attributed to the influence of Renaissance masters. His best-known work, The Persistence of Memory, was completed in 1931. Dalí's expansive artistic repertoire includes film, sculpture, and photography in collaboration with a range of artists in a variety of mediums.

Dalí attributed his "love of everything that is gilded and excessive, my passion for luxury and my love of oriental clothes" to a self-styled "Arab lineage," claiming that his ancestors were descended from the Moors.

Widely considered to be greatly imaginative, Dalí had an affinity for partaking in unusual behavior to draw attention to himself. This sometimes irked those who loved his art as much as it annoyed his critics, since his eccentric manner sometimes drew more public attention than his artwork.

Mató and Anchovies with Toast

Mató is a mild cheese, characteristic of the Bages region and one of the most traditionally Catalan varieties. Anchovies are one of the most ancient and valuable fish preserves, with those arriving from L’Escala being the most highly regarded in Catalonia.

The dish mixes the fruit and meat, the sweet with the salty tastes.
Typical of the l’Alt Empordà and Maresme areas. Our recipes has minced pork meat and veal, lemon peel, sugar, a touch of cinnamon, eggs and carquinyoli powder.



Duck with apple

The duck is regarded highly with in Catalonia gastronomy. Recipes featuring duck proliferate the Empordà, the Ebro Delta, the Penedés and the Cerdanya regions. Many fruits combine well with this particular bird: pears, apples, plums, cherries and, as in this case, peaches.

Club Bàsquet Adepaf Figueres

ADEPAF FIGUERES, ITS HISTORY

The club was founded in 1957. In the late 50's was one of the first clubs allowed to play with two American soldiers from the base of air traffic control in the area. He was in the First Women's Division during the 80s. It is a club linked since 1995 to CB Girona (Akasvayu). In the 2000/2001 season he played the rise in the league EBA, a category which was maintained for three seasons. He is currently disputing the Copa Catalunya.

Unió Esportiva Figueres

Unió Esportiva Figueres is a football team based in Figueres in the autonomous community of Catalonia. Founded in 1919 and refounded in 2007, the season 2008-09 will be played in Catalan second division. Its home stadium is Estadi Vilatenim with a seating capacity of 9,472.

The club was founded in 1919. In 27 June 2007 the principal shareholder transferred the club to Castelldefels due to little support of the public, and the side would eventually disappear.

In August 2007, UE Figueres is refounded by minority shareholders, with the team starting playing will in the lowest division of Spanish football, Tercera Catalana.
